Well-being in architecture: spaces that care for people.

We place human well-being at the centre of architecture. Natural light, biophilic design, acoustic comfort, air quality and WELL standards are integrated from the brief through delivery for homes, hospitality and workplaces across Spain, Sweden and Greece.

Well-being-led architecture by Wolfblanc Architects

Wolfblanc Architects

Human performance starts with measurable design decisions.

  1. Daylight & lightingSunlight, shadow and natural-light studies based on climate and orientation, with glare control and circadian-supportive artificial lighting.
  2. Biophilic designIntegration of vegetation, organic materials, water, exterior views and spatial patterns that strengthen the connection between people and nature.
  3. Acoustic zoningPlanning of quiet and active zones, speech privacy, reverberation treatment and control of external and building-services noise.
  4. Air quality & thermal comfortNatural and mechanical ventilation, pollutant control, temperature, radiant heat, humidity and air movement designed for the occupant profile.
  5. WELL strategy & movementPlanning across WELL concepts, including active circulation, material health, comfort and the documentation required for certification when appropriate.

Our approach

Evidence-based design, integrated from the start. Well-being design goes beyond selecting healthy materials. We begin with an initial diagnosis, define the most relevant goals, integrate them into the architecture, validate performance through daylight, acoustic and comfort studies, and prepare documentation for WELL or equivalent certification. Certification is a verification tool; the objective is a space that genuinely supports people.

Frequently asked questions

What does WELL certification mean and when is it worth pursuing?

WELL certification assesses the impact of the built environment on people's health and well-being across ten categories: air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind and community. It is worth pursuing in continuously occupied buildings where user experience is a differentiating factor: hotels, premium offices, luxury housing and healthcare or educational facilities.

What is biophilic design?

Biophilic design integrates nature into the built environment through the presence of vegetation, organic materials, outdoor views, water, natural light and patterns that evoke the natural world. It is not simply about adding plants - it is an approach that activates documented positive psychological responses: stress reduction, improved concentration and increased perceived well-being.

How does well-being architecture improve property value?

Studies on well-being certified properties consistently show rental and sale values above market, as well as lower tenant turnover rates. In hospitality, hotels that prioritise well-being receive better ratings and greater customer willingness to pay. Well-being is a tangible, measurable differentiating argument.
